Abstract Awards

Poster Excellence Award

On-site at the Conference, volunteer members of PNAQ will judge the posters and give a Poster Excellence Award to several posters in each category (i.e. Research and Evidence-Based Practice or Practice Improvement/Practice Innovation).  The total number of awards is determined each year based on the number of accepted posters in each category.

Best Paper Award

An award will be presented for the Best Paper at the conference.  A panel appointed by the conference subcommittee will select the recipient of the Best Paper Award.  It is anticipated that the Best Paper will be submitted for publication in the ACORN Journal.

Novice Presenter Award

A Novice Presenter is a person who has not previously presented a paper at a State or National Conference.  PNAQ encourages and supports all perioperative nurses to share their experience, knowledge and research with colleagues.

General Guidelines

Each abstract must be accompanied by a completed cover sheet.  Authors must specify the preferred format (oral or poster) of the presentation; however, the conference subcommittee reserves the right to re-allocate the chosen format to best meet the needs of conference participants.  It is estimated that the majority of oral presentations will be in the 15-30 minute time limit.  Poster presentation guidelines will be forwarded to successful authors.  Posters will be displayed for the duration of the conference and the author will be requested to be present during the allocated "Meet the Author" session.

Abstract Submission Process

a.     Follow the General & Specific Guidelines

b.     Download Abstract Coversheet (Incorporating Presenter Profile)

c.      All photographs and diagrams must be embedded within the abstract

d.     Submit completed coversheet and abstract as attachments in Microsoft Word to your email

Submission Deadline

Please submit abstracts together with the Abstract Cover Sheet no later than Friday 30th April 2010.  Abstracts received after this date will not be accepted.

The presenter profile (in the Abstract Cover Sheet) will be used as your presenter biography for session moderators.

Presentations must be written in English and emailed to pnaq@pnaq.net.au.  Abstracts can be submitted via email only as a word document with an accompanying presenter profile attached.

Important Note

All selected presenters must register for the conference to be eligible to present. The conference committee regrets that it is unable to meet any travel or reimbursement of expenses incurred. All presenters will be entitled to the Early Bird Rate.

Notification to Authors

The conference subcommittee will review all the submissions and identify the accepted abstracts.  Abstracts will be rated on originality and relevance to the conference theme.  Authors will be notified and provided with additional information regarding poster or oral presentation.

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the 2010 PNAQ State Conference.
