YARI SIVVERS SCHOLARSHIP

 

Yari Sivvers

Yari was a well known member of PNAQ Far Northern Branch and passed away suddenly following a short battle with lymphoma on 12 December 1997 - aged 38.

Yari commenced his nursing career at the Royal Perth Hospital in 1983 and went on to complete a course in OR Nursing and Management and midwifery studies in 1991.  He then moved to Cairns Base Hospital working in ORS and completed his Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing).

Yari spent the last two years of his working life in Nursing Administration at Cairns Hospital.  He had a keen interest in Information Technology and how nursing could use this emerging field to improve quality patient outcomes. 

Yari was a passionate advocate for perioperative nursing and worked tirelessly with PNAQ for recognition of the profession.

.  YARI SIVVERS SCHOLARSHIP                                                                                                                   

This is an annual scholarship to honour the memory of Yari Sivvers.  Yari contributed tirelessly to the advancement of Perioperative nursing and was a committed member of PNAQ Far Northern Branch. 

The Yari Sivvers Scholarship is available to one Perioperative nurse from North Queensland (Mackay, Far Northern and Northern branches) who is currently enrolled in a recognised post basic Perioperative education program.  Funding is to the value of $500 towards attending the PNAQ Inc. Annual State Conference.

As with all funding grants there is essential selection criteria required to be eligible for this scholarship.

The criteria is set out in the PNAQ Resource Manual (p.38)
